| Age: | 43 | | Background: | I got up and everyone was still round the fire from the night before. There was a bloke called Mushroom Tom, standing on one leg on a box, declaiming loudly. He was Doing His Own Thing, telling the same three jokes over and over again.
First of all he would take a small sign with a handle.
''How does a fly commit suicide?'' he'd say. And then he'd hit himself with the sign and fall on the floor.
Then he'd hold a glass of water behind his back.
''How does a fly eat its food?'' he'd ask.
And he'd take a mouthful of water and spit it at whoever he was talking to.
''How does a fly sleep?'' he'd ask.
And then he'd lie on his back with his arms and legs in the air.
He must have repeated those jokes about twenty times in the five minutes or so I spent listening to him.
