| Background: | Jay began his DJ career in the early 90’s after a brief visit to Ibiza brought out the musical spirit that had lain dormant inside until then……….
After a couple of years of doing warm ups and ‘sneaky slots’ at the now infamous M25 raves of the late eighties and early nineties including BIOLOGY and STORM, as well as many other events around the south of England, Jay returned to the white Isle for a few guest slots, where he met up with Mike and Andy MANUMISSION.
The guys were so impressed with his style of Deep house, mixed with Balearic and ambient grooves that he was soon put to the task of transforming what was then a shabby roadside bar called COCO-LOCO into what is now the highly regarded celebrity watering-hole known as BAR M.
The years that followed involved a lot of jetting around for Jay, who alongside his new partner in crime, Griff become resident DJ for MANUMISSION at PRIVILEGE, formerly KU, a stint that lasted for the next 4 years.
Guest slots soon followed with appearances all over the World in places such as Australia, USA, Germany, Finland, France and Spain to name but a few with some of the worlds premiere promoters including CREAM, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, MISS MONEYPENNYS, PAM’S HOUSE, FANTAZIA, PERUVIA, WOBBLE, SLINKY, PEACH, SAINT TRANCE, FREEDOM… the list goes on…
Following a 3 month tour of Asia promoting his album for SAINT TRANCE his focus has been drawn back to the studio, which had been laying dormant and gathering dust for a year or so. Recent hits such as ‘MOVE’ (8/8 in M8 magazine, rave press and airplay) & ‘ANGEL’ (playlisted on Radio 1, Galaxy & Vibe FM) as well as collaborations with artistes such as THE DISCIPLES OF SOUND, NEIL E and PAUL THORPE and remix work aplenty have taken over a huge part of his schedule.
More recently Jay has had a whole bunch of productions snapped up for release by labels such as HARLEM TRAX (Space supremeo STEVE LAWLER’S label), CONNECTED, SUSU and WALLOP RECORDS and has even found the time in his busy schedule to set up his own label, RED RECORDINGS, alongside Rob and Junior of DISCIPLES OF SOUND fame.
Jay lives and works in Buckinghamshire where he owns his own luxury 48 track Digital studio, recording all genres of house music under various guises, including DIGITAL PUNKS, AUDIO DELUXE, MIDITHIEF, KID LOPEZ & STARCHILD. And currently holds residencies at SOULSUGAR, CYBERKITTEN and SLINKY.
His current musical style ranges from deep tribal grooves to progressive and funky house and trance, but his versatility and ability to rock any crowd will ensure that this guy remains at the top of his class.
