Highway 75 is a new Echoes Ldn project based on quality underground music.
Taking the name of the famous highway that runs from Miami to Detroit our journey will take you from a warm and laidback sound, perfect for the early evening, to a more obscure and electronic one which will make you dance till the end of the night, definitely the right sound to start your weekend.
There's no one quite like Normski, who has worked across multiple media platforms since the late 1980s as a DJ, TV presenter, photographer, designer, broadcaster and vocalist. Normski was in Detroit back in 1987, working for Record Mirror photographing the pioneers of Detroit techno (he recorded a vocal for 'Yeah Yeah Yeah' while in Juan Atkins' studio). His TV career kicked off in 1991 when he became Britain's foremost youth presenter on pioneering dance music programme 'Dance Energy', which ran for five seasons for Def II on BBC2.
As a DJ he's played everywhere from Fabric and Glastonbury to the hippest clubs in Japan and since 2011 he's been one of the DJs representing the Ministry of Sounds' Addicted to Bass brand. In 2012 he went back on the air at online station Hoxton FM, presenting 'GeT.Tronic' which specialises in all things house and electronic.
"I have been in the music business for most of my life,' says Normski, 'and spent the last 20 years perfecting my infectious and energetic Dj skills. I love to rock the party, but if I'm not behind the decks then I'll be rocking on the dance floor.'
To warm up the night will be our friend Pier Cimador (VinylAbuser) with a special vinyl selection and Echoes Ldn resident Bob Shark who is going to play an exclusive electronic ambient chill-out set at the start, another good reason to come early.
