The Dance Industry is situated at Loughborough Junction SW9, next to Loughborough Junction BR station on Coldharbour Lane. It has been designed and built by Tony and Louise of Club 414 Entertainment Limited, who have been in the entertainment industry for over 20 years and now feel that the timing is right to extend their support to the community by converging all aspects of the music and dance scene under one roof. Hence the creation of the all new Dance Industry studios.
After 10 years of searching for the right location, finally in 1999 they came across an old bottle-washing factory that had been empty for 16 years. In this building they saw the potential of what they might be able to do and envisioned themselves as having a better working relationship with those parties that had started off at Club 414 but had grown to be too big, with large audiences consequently forcing them to move to larger venues. This venue was therefore perfect to bring them back and add the additional bonus of generating better promotional means with the new digital media.
The Dance Industry, as mentioned, is studio premises and has various aims and goals that it will be striving to achieve.
One of the aims of Dance Industry is to provide top-grade recording facilities from step one of the productions of CD and DVD to the launch of the final product. The Dance Industry will also serve as a rehearsal space for bands and its open areas ideal for choreographers.
The facilities will also provide 24 hours M&D and alcohol licenses to coincide with any launch parties or live DVD and CD productions.
The recording of the event is however an essential part of the usage of the facilities, unless the event is a launch party of a previously recorded CD at The Dance Industry. This will enable record labels and record producers that keep parties to use Dance Industry’s facilities in order to promote their music, essentially giving promoters and record labels a place to master a CD and launch it.
Another goal for Dance Industry is to begin a programme in the near future for young local youths in the area, in order to give them help, support and the opportunity to learn all aspects of the recording industry. This will be in conjunction with local authorities such as The Culture and Creative Industry Project in Lambeth, who already have an ongoing programme in place. The Dance Industry will be providing the teaching space to this organisation, and organisations with similar goals, from 9am–9pm, Mondays–Thursdays.
Guy Geezer from the Stay Up Collective who has produced and mixed virtually all of the Liberator tracks on the Stay Up Forever label is the main engineer at the premises and will donate his time for both the producing of the CDs and to the tutoring of these aspiring youngsters.
The Dance Industry wants to give the “everyday” individuals who may not have the means to record or produce a music they may have in their head, to give them the opportunity to record, label and press a copy of their music. This may not just be for a bigger audience, perhaps only his/her girlfriend/boyfriend or family. The aim of this project is to give them the opportunity to create and realise their dreams. As we know from little acorns mighty oaks grow, especially if they’re nurtured along the way.
The extent of support The Dance Industry aims to give also includes formation of bands, music tuition, DVD editing tuition, camera operating and original song developing. It will also give individuals new ideas and guidance in order for them to develop creatively.
Rather than supplying pictures of an empty venue to accompany this feature, you are all invited to the event on Saturday February 18th, the Hard Dance Industry, which we hope will capture the imagination of all fans in London’s hard-dance/trance scene. Leading DJs include Marc French, Steve Blake, Skol, Roosta and Craig Mac to name a few, as well as a second room being hosted by Alumni and Pulse.
This will be an opportunity to make history and you will be able to watch it happen by possibly being on the live DVD that will be produced on the night.
The Dance Industry is a new concept that incorporates all different promotional/recording media and should not be regarded as a nightclub. As I hope the above describes, it’s so much more…
