2008 is now upon us and to help beat the excesses of the festive period and get us back into ship shape fashion, it’s time for Part 2 of our Free Members Party’s on Friday 4th January 2008. Whilst many clubs choose to stay shut or go for scaled down line-ups, The Gallery is pushing the boat out with an all-star cast across two rooms, don’t say we aren’t good to you!!!!
Agnelli & Nelson better known to their nearest and dearest as Chris Agnelli and Robbie Nelson are the Irish duo responsible for the massive Balearic classics 'El Nino' and 'Everyday'. They have also remixed major artists from rock legends U2 to dance music kings Ferry Corsten and Armin Van Burden. Recent club incursions have been with touch-ups for Matt Darey, Jon the Dentist, Scott Bond vs Solar Stone and former label-mates Chicane. They have provided six guest mixes on Radio 1 (including two live NYE specials)... AND, they even appeared on Top of the Pops!! Recent releases have included the massive ‘Wear that Dress’ on Deep Blue recordings which also lends its name to their weekly radio show which has proved a huge hit worldwide. A rare chance to see this duo in action, it should provide a fitting way to work off the excesses of the Xmas break over at Gallery HQ. Next up is John Askew, one of The Gallery’s highly revered residents and one of the scenes true underground heroes. After a storming 2007, which included John becoming a father, a Radio 1 Essential Mix, the continuation of the ever popular ‘Live As’ mix series and his Discover record label continuing to set the pace others wish to follow, 2008 looks set to be another action packed year for sure!! Always a legendary pairing, John is reunited with fellow Gallery resident and partner in crime Gavyn Mytchel so expect the usual and much more besides!! Mixmag Future Hero, Cream UK & Ibiza Resident, Gareth Wyn is part of the nu breed, and his unique style combined with the ability to read and interact with the crowd is fast earning him a reputation as one of the scene's rising stars. A regular warming up for the likes of van Dyk, Tiesto, Ferry and many more at Cream’s legendary Amnesia parties but equally comfortable playing alongside Hernan Cattaneo at Creamfields in Buenos Aires, Gareth will be bringing his main room sound to The Gallery for the midnight set. One to seriously watch!! Finally The Gallery welcomes back AJ Gibson, the legendary Godskitchen resident to join the main room proceedings to round the night off with our typical hands in the air finale!!
Meanwhile, T2 welcomes a one-off promotion headed ably by the newly named Catz (formerly Cheshire Catz) and they’ll no doubt be celebrating their start to 2008 by pulling out all the stops for their special event. Forthcoming in Jan are two collaborations – ‘Straightjacket’, with disco-minimal star Andre Crom, and ‘COGS’ with Olivier Giacomotto - the biggest electro star on Beatport right now. Couple this with being tagged by John Acquaviva as "most likely to succeed in 2008" (and asked to join his touring ‘Electronic’ line-ups), launching their own label Catzmuzik, plus Nic Fanciulli describing their ‘Candiru’ track as, "the best thing in my box for the last four months"... it already looks like a rather splendid year ahead!! Jamie McHugh also joins the action for the first T2 of 2008 and this year looks set to be a big one with an album set to drop and remixes for Josh Wink & Tom Pooks already nailed down. Joining Jamie is a legendary figure in London clubland, Big Daddy. For those who are not in the know he is the man behind London clubnight, Playtime. 2008 sees Big Daddy launch his new deep electro label GEEK records with tracks from King Roc, Tommy Four Seven, and Swede of the moment David Ekenback. Rounding off the proceedings is Nico De Ceglia, the man from the Essential Selection & Codex, who made quite a name for himself last year regularly appearing at some of London's biggest nights.
Oh and cos it’s a Free Members Party, that means that all our dearly beloved Gallery Members won’t have to pay a penny to join in the fun!! If you’re not a Member, but fancy some of this, simply email tom@turnmills.co.uk or call 020 7324 3398.
