Since Kent collective, Mongo Bongo took up the challenge of a DJ Battle versus Liverpool’s mighty Chibuku Shake Shake at The Social Bar last month, the gang have been keeping the house heads happy with roadblock events at Turnmills and The River Bar (Maidstone), where Liverpool’s finest returned the challenge on Mongo Bongo’s home turf… and tore the roof off!!
One month on, Mongo Bongo are back at The Social Bar for another head-to-head clash with the Chibuku massive. Round 2 is scheduled for Friday 5th November with Mongo Bongo’s Anil Chawla and Marcel Kane lining up against Chibuku’s Wandy behind the decks. When these two club nights met at The Social last month, the bar was full to capacity by 10.30pm, with 1 in, 1 out queues outside the bar!! It’s also absolutely free to get in all night too, so what you save getting in, you can splash out at the bar!!
Guy Fawkes gags aside, you can expect another explosive night of acid-tinged, electro house from three of the UK’s hottest resident spinners. In fact we can pretty much guarantee you fireworks on the dancefloor… enough already!!
As well as emerging as one of the capital’s freshest DJs over the past 12 months, Mongo Bongo’s Anil Chawla has also been making great noises in the studio of late. He’s just completed a remix for Gallery resident Tall Paul’s forthcoming new single (with production partner Dale Anderson) and their own new track “Disco Stew” has recently been picked up by rising star Nic Fanciulli for his Saved Records imprint and set for release early next year. Fellow resident Marcel Kane is another DJ on the up and like Anil he likes to mix things up for the crowd, a natural performer. So too is Chibuku resident Wandy, another ace jock, who’s career is soaring to heady new heights after an awesome 2004.
