You always know that the summer is right around the corner when South American legend Hernan Cattaneo plays his first Gallery set of the year!! Cattaneo is Argentina’s premier dance music export and none other than Perfecto pal Paul Oakenfold’s favourite DJ. He has a huge global following and has just mixed the latest Renaissance compilation. To say he’s popular at The Gallery would be a huge understatement and you can catch him exclusively at Turnmills on Friday 7th May, as he fronts the main room with Gabriel & Dresden, Ton TB, Steve Lee and Gary Collins. Gabriel & Dresden are two of the biggest success stories of 2003, apparently coming from nowhere (despite 15 years experience!!) to record a chart topping single ‘When The Rush Comes’ (under their Motorcycle moniker) and become the Highest New Entry in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll in the process - No.42. Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden are also big favourites with Pete Tong and they made their UK debut at The Gallery at the end of last year. Ton TB aka Three Drives is another excellent Dutch DJ from the Black Hole Records camp, owned by Tiesto. Like Gabriel & Dresden, Ton TB made his UK debut at The Gallery and also like the US spinners, Ton has established himself to be one of Holland’s finest DJ exports with his tech-house groove. Gallery resident Steve Lee returns to the main room this Friday, having moonlighted in the backroom twice already this year hosting his new Ibiza party Joy. Gary Collins is the warm up DJ of choice, having recently won a Turnmills DJ Competition.
Complimenting the main room will be Nic Fanciulli, who returns to the backroom to play at his exclusive monthly residency, Fandango. Nic is gearing up for another big summer with guest spots alongside Deep Dish at Pacha and Cream at Amnesia already confirmed in Ibiza, plus Radio 1 at Homelands a little closer to home. His guests this month include Spencer Parker of Defected fame and The Gallery’s very own Tall Paul, who’ll be making a very rare appearance in T2. The DJ box in the main room was purpose built to fit Paul’s huge frame many moons ago, whereas the low ceilings in the backroom clearly wasn’t!! Ah well, I’m sure Paul can more than cope as he’ll be dropping a very different set to what he plays in the main room. What’s that then, you may ask? Well, you’ll just have to come down to check it out!! There are also rumours of a Tall Paul B2B set with Fanciulli… which would surely be something extra special too.
