MOOCH!N 4th BIRTHDAY PARTY!
Saturday 20th October '07
Yes indeedy, Moochin are about to turn four years old, and we've got a stonker lined up for the celebrations. Not only have we got the cream of international house music DJs, but the THRILLER theme will go down a treat as we are hosting the party in the crypt of St Matthew's Church in Brixton! Expect lots of spooky decor and the moochin girls to assist you with your blood stains and scars. Please excuse the headless (and legless) doorgirl on the way in.
Now, here's the lowdown on the guest DJs...
Owner and head of A&R for Vancouver-based Nordic Trax, Luke McKeehan has steadily established himself as one of the most innovative names in the world of House music. With over 50 releases spanning a decade & seminal tracks from such artists as Home & Garden, Gavin Froome, JT Donaldson, DJ Heather, Iz, Jay Tripwire, Kelvin K and McKeehan himself, Nordic Trax has remained firmly committed to releasing pure quality. A veteran of Toronto's warehouse scene in the 1980's, Luke's contribution to Canada's ever-growing dance culture runs deep; while his innovative DJ sets and critically acclaimed productions have earned him fans worldwide. Exploring the boundaries of deep, tech and jackin.. House music through his deejay sets, productions & label, for over decade Luke has been one of the strongest advocates for Canadas underground club scene. Luke has also put his considerable studio skills to work, dropping original productions, remixes and critically-acclaimed DJ mixes [see complete discography]. His most recent CD on Nordic Trax 'Many Shades of House' (NT040CD) received a near-perfect 4.5/5 rating from DJ Magazine, who exclaimed "The love affair continues this latest Nordic Trax gem".
Giom (aka Guillaume Jambel) was born in Niort, France. He relocated to London in 1997 and enrolled in the London college of Music where, as a drummer, he graduated 5 years later. In the meantime, in 2000, he discovered House Music, and started producing and djing in various London bars later that year. His tracks were originally heavily influenced by the likes of Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx, but he then discovered the more underground side of House Music, with the likes of Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina and Jacob London. After a few years spent in the studio, in 2006, GIOM got 2 tracks licensed to San Francisco's prestigious Om Records : “Jus Trippin” for the DJ Heather’s House Of Om compilation, and his remix of Marloís “Another One” for the Om Winter Sessions cd, mixed by Johnny Fiasco and Justin Martin. His debut EP is now out on San Francisco's Motion Music, as well as his remixes of Vernon & Dacosta, Swirl People, Gabriel Balck and Jay West. GIOM also makes music with his mate VINZ under the name Bobby and Klein.
Atnarko’s own sleek productions which he describes as “funky and fun” have been pressed for U.S. underground imprints like Movim Recordings, Tango and Detour Recordings. He joined Patrick Turner for “Explicit Theory” and has also worked with house-diva DJ Heather. His collaborations with British house-legend Huggy as “Formidable Force” for the 2020 Vision label has indeed landed in the record crates of the world’s top house DJs who prize their quirky, yet floor-movin’ vibes. He’s also an in-demand remixer and renowned club DJ who wants nothing more than to drop a groove down your spine (and inspire a smile on your face). His long-time relationship with the like-minded Q-Burns Abstract Message continues to renew his creative energies. Their monthly “Club Queso” event is known as one of Orlando’s most notorious (and intoxicated) nights of four-on-the-floor debauchery. Things do tend to get pretty crazy there, and costumes are usually warranted. Fittingly, the pair has also recently launched EIGHT-TRACKS, a vinyl-only label dedicated to releasing conceptual house music with a post-modernist read: subversive slant.
Of course, Moochin head poncho Lee "the Spookmeister" Jarvis and Giles "Slasher" Butler will be there to start and end the night in true moochin style, with nothing but the best in bumping, jackin, deep, chunky, freaky new school house music.
