Spiritualised Hawaiian Party Review

The Hawaiian party!!!
Hallo ha! What do you get when you add Hawaiian hula girls, beach balls, coconuts, leis, huge TV screen showing Hawaiian movies, a funky juice bar and hmmm, oh yes, a fab bunch of DJ’s??? You get the friendliest party in town…. SPIRITUALISED Hawaiian Summer Party – 9th August!!!!
We have been eagerly awaiting this event all week, then Saturday finally came and it was soooo hot and sticky. I felt like lazing in an outdoor Jacuzzi for the evening, drinking champagne and being fanned down by my gorgeous fiancée. But I’d waited a month for this party and wasn’t going to let the heat stop me from having fun. Finally, Brad dragged me off the sofa to make me get myself together. So equipped with mini fans hanging from our necks, our most summery, Hawaiian clothes, a bit of lip gloss (just for me), we were ready to P.A.R.T.Y the night away!
I know there were loads of huge parties happening in London on the same night, but all my friends were going to the friendliest gig in town…SPIRITUALISED!! We just had to be there. On our arrival we were greeted by what looked like identical twins dressed up as hula dancers, giving us free CD’s and yummy fruity sweeties! No real sweets! Already I feel I’m in Hawaii – and in the mood for FUN.
Moving up to the Funky Room to get a lavish cocktail, it was like walking into a little bar in Hawaii, with fab décor and a chilled out vibe. Huge colourful neon banners were hung around the walls, accompanied by wicked lasers, colourful lights and beach balls. There were lots of huge fans to keep us cool that made me relax and enjoy the night more. I could bounce like a lunatic and still feel cool. I’m lovin’ it!
So let’s get down to business, we did all the hugs & kisses to our buddies but now it was time for some serious bouncing, after all that’s why we love it here. So down to the basement where we felt the beat of the music throbbing through our veins. We arrived half way through Paulo Lopez’s set that was playing B2B with Mikey. An uplifting warm up to get us in the mood for the stomp fest. To make it even more like Hawaii [for those who needed extra encouragement], a huge screen playing Hawaiian movies was on display in the hard dance room.
Next up we have the man from Spain, Nacho! He played B2B with Luke Smith from South Africa. Definitely not a culture clash with these boys, they rocked!! It was very uplifting trance with a splash of acid techno. Cranking out tunes like ‘REVELATION’ by BK, ‘DEVASTATION’ by James Lawson, ‘INSOMNIA’ by Bootleg, what can I say - awesome set. Everyone was hot & sweaty, but we all had smiley faces, with hands in the air shouting for more…the atmosphere was electric! We were lovin’ it. Better than we expected.
We needed a break, so sat and chatted for a few minutes. Otherwise I would have collapsed. What a workout! Who needs the gym? Right on queue, we have the lovely Techno Tramp giving out lots of ice-lollies and lolly pops to keep us all cool. Leaving the hard dance room I went on a little mission to check out the funky room upstairs. I got myself a fruit cocktail with lots of ice and just chilled out. I heard there was another Irish girl playing in the funky room, so went to check out her set. DJ Ann Marie, now I’m not into funky music all night, I can groove to it for a bit but she was fantastic. She put a lot of funk into her funky tunes, which I found myself grooving to. People were dancing to tunes like ‘U GROOVE ME’ by Jon Cutler feat. Kemdi, & STRAWBERRY LETTER by Nu Groove. There was a relaxed vibe. She was definitely enjoying her set! Go Ann Marie - I will be checking out your funky set more often I think. I know Nacho & lots of other great funky DJ’s rocked in the funky room but I didn’t get to see them as I was stuck to the floor in the basement – literally!
My fiancée comes to get me as I apparently forgot to tell him I was going on a mission. Oops. We made our way up to the rooftop. No, he wasn’t going to throw me from the roof, we just went up to get some air and have a big chill out. It was no rose garden but was just what we needed. Lots of people sitting around talking bout the great night we were all having.
All of a sudden I checked the time and it was 2.15am, and time for the queen of hard trance to shake her booty. Yes, up next was DJ Techno Tramp! She had us all ‘Hula Bouncing’. Nobody was sitting down; her set had bags of energy. She was having her own little workout; this girl knows how to move while banging out tunes like ‘DINGALING’ – DJ Scott Project and a ‘COLDPLAY REMIX’ by Silver Bullet. It felt like a tribal ritual, everyone was at one, pounding and stomping in their hula skirts & even the boys made an effort in their board shorts & Hawaiian shirts! Awesome. Work it baby! Her set was fast, uplifting & hit you where it hurt! It was in pure bliss!
Up next was the smooth, cool Brazilian, DJ Frankie B2B with Frederico, South African. Well done boys, bringing us down memory lane with a mixed bag of magical tunes old and new like ‘TIPTRONIC’ – (BK & Dave Randall), ‘COME ON’ by Breather (Primemover remix). They were constantly spinning out bangin tunes. There was an eruption of energy and dance from all the hot, sweaty bodies around us. We didn’t get much time to sit down since we arrived. This clubbing business is hard work but so much fun.
As I sat and chatted on the stairs, I could suddenly see the sun appearing over my shoulder & I realised just like a vampire, the fun was over and we had to go home. I just didn’t want to go though, but was dragged out kicking and screaming, yes again by my man! What a way to end the hottest day of the year! And still a few days on, I find myself smiling as I remember the great night we all had!
Thanks so much to the SPIRITUALISED CREW for making all your parties so much fun. Also, thanks to the entire crowd that came. Great to meet such happy people! You guys certainly know how to party! Can’t wait for the next one, which isn’t until October!
Big thanks to Planet for the use of his pics!
