2 women worth getting out of bed for on a Sunday morning!

Reported by Twist / Submitted 03-03-06 00:13

After surviving one of the mightiest weekends of the year — namely Frantic’s Hard House Academy followed by one of the biggest afterparties of the year, Twist — we take a brief moment to speak with two of the most dedicated women in hard dance: Jennie and Anastasia. Integral employees of infamous afterparty Twist, these two are definitely worth getting out of bed for on a Sunday morning!

How did you both become involved in Twist?

Anastasia: Right from day one really, I jumped at the chance to get involved. I got introduced to clubbing at a very young age so to actually be involved in it was a privilege.

Jennie: I only really got involved when we moved to The Factory. I’d grown to like Twist and wanted it to continue and keep it in the top spot, which I believe we have firmly done.

What duties are involved in running Twist?

Anastasia: Plenty, a lot of people don’t realise how hard it is, but we have such a strong dedicated team from our flyerers to our djs. We all do our fair share which makes it easier. The most important duty is picking the finest line up in London.

Jennie: Pretty much the same as a Saturday night monthly party, but every week! Line ups, set times, flyer teams, posters in events during the weekend, guest lists and mainly website advertising.

What do you have to do on a weekly basis and what do you actually do during the party itself?

Anastasia: Generally promoting the party and coming up with new ideas for each week which we all do. At the party itself getting there right at the start to set up, putting posters up then once the party has started getting all the cold customer in and doing the guest list and till, Collecting emails, giving out treats.... Being the Twist Nazi as Jennie would describe me…

Jennie: Mainly the advertising on the dance websites. I also sort out set times and future line ups and contact the djs and their agencies when needed. During the party itself I work on the door with Anastasia trying to get people into the party as quickly as possible, because the last thing that you want to do is come out of a club and queue for another half hour. We both also make sure that we are in and around the party all morning for jobs that may arise however if it wasn’t for the whole team there wouldn’t be a party.

The level of commitment for a weekly party is immense, how do you both manage to find the energy and drive to perform each week?

Anastasia: It’s addictive! The customers we have every week are so much fun and seeing their faces and the amount of people on the dance floor at the end of morning makes it all worth it. I have realised now that staying awake before the party is the best option no getting comfy in your bed or it’s game over.

Jennie: Simple. I love clubbing. People always ask me, “don’t you get bored?” The answer is always no. I get to help out in a party that I love and meet so many great people every week. But the best thing is getting to work with the greatest team around, Steve, Stefan, Rich, Sven and of course Anastasia.

Did you ever imagine yourselves doing what you are doing now?

Anastasia: Not when I first started going out. I never had a clue about the scene really but as soon as I started, like I said earlier I was hooked and I knew I wanted to be in it for the duration.

Jennie: NEVER! I used to be on the hate Twist wagon a couple of years ago and then someone persuaded me to give it another go and I had a great time!

What are the disadvantages and advantages of running Twist?

Anastasia: I have sat here thinking about this question for 5 minutes and I can’t think of a single thing. Getting to stare at Jennie’s tits…

No seriously I have met some great people since I started working for Twist and I have got to work with some fab people. But the main advantage is the satisfaction of seeing the clubbers having a brilliant time.

Jennie: There are loads of advantages! Getting to listen to music that I love, meeting loads of new people week in week out, working with some great people, doing something that I love doing but the most rewarding is standing on the balcony at 11am and still seeing the dance floor going off knowing that you had a part to play in it! Disadvantage would be missing the Hollyoaks omnibus on Sunday morning!

Why do you think all of London’s leading promotions choose Twist as their official after party?

Anastasia: Why go for second best. When a promoter puts their heart and soul into giving their clubbers the best night they can they also want to ensure their weekend is ended perfectly and what better way to do it than twisting the morning away.

Jennie: Frantic, Wildchild and Heat are the leading promotions in London, constantly putting on great parties. When their clubbers leave to go to the official after party they want to know that they are not going to be disappointed so they choose London’s No.1 After Party — Twist.

How do you think Twist has remained top of the after party tree?

Anastasia: The perfect formula! Steve, Stefan, Rich, Sven, Jennie and I all work incredibly hard every week and communicate very well, we all get on great. All of our djs work very well together. Twist is known for the vibe it creates and I think people come for that just as much as anything else. We had a guy this week who came over from Miami epically for it, people who wake up fresh in the morning just come down for some twist now that to me is commitment.

Jennie: Because Twist consistently puts on a great party whether we have 200 or 500 people in. There have been a couple of parties that have tried to create what we have, even by using our old home but lets face there is only one Twist. The vibe, djs, staff, club, music and all the other elements that we have are not one in a million and I know that this time next year we will still be number one!

What’s it like working with one of the most outspoken people in dance —Steve?

Anastasia: I wouldn’t have him any other way! My mouth is just as big and I give as good as I get, same with Jennie, and anyway he is only a man...

Jennie: LOL. I used to fight online with Steve all the time but if I am truthful it was only because he used to say exactly what he thought, not beating around the bush. If he didn’t like something he would say it and I think that that is what most people get annoyed with him. But at the end of the day Steve is someone that I have grow to have a lot of respect for and I would stand by him no matter what.

Tell us a secret about Steve.

Anastasia: He used to be a pop star in Colour Code

Jennie: Ooooooo I couldn’t possibly tell you the one that springs to mind, he would kill me but it has something to do with bodily functions!

What would you say to people who generally don’t do after parties?

Anastasia: Give it a go we have people converting all the time. You never know until you try.

Jennie: Lots of people have and opinion about Twist good or bad but they have never actually been. I would say to anyone interested: Try it, you might like it!

Why should they try Twist?

Anastasia:
Fantastic djs, great crowd, we welcome everybody with open arms that’s what’s creates the vibe that people come back for every week.

Jennie: Because Twist isn’t your usually after party. It’s got great djs, music, crowd, vibe and above all me and Anastasia on the door.

When did you last have a Sunday roast dinner?

Anastasia: Haven’t got a clue! Spit roast on the other hand Hehe!

Jennie: A roast dinner I never miss out on I have one every Wednesday. A Sunday roast however would be well over 2 years!

Wrongun....I think that your comments are pathetic!

You knew what it was about you obviously have no interest in the party so why read it! I'll never get back the 2 seconds I took to read your post!!!! Idiot!

I think that the twist girls are great they always greet the clubbers with a smile and sometimes I wonder how they do it at 5.30 every sunday morning! You obviously have no idea how much time and effort they put into their jobs with Twist, not forgetting that this isnt their full time job!!!! I think that you are very sad!

Keep up the good work Jennie and Anastasia!
