The Kid and Kutski Experience

When two big names in the hard dance scene decide to get together and create something new someone’s going to take notice. With a string of festival appearances already under their belt and the first CD of hard dance to grace the cover of Mixmag in over five years we decided to find out a bit more about The Kid and Kutski Experience.
KUTSKI
Your Youtube channel is one of the most popular in the dance music scene and you are often one of top viewed musician’s, how do you think Youtube is changing the way which we promote and share information with the world?
It's just the new medium really isn't it!! I'm totally hooked!! It start out with me having ideas but not being arsed to make videos very much, but the more I've got into it, I'm trying to think of ideas just for an excuse to make a video! Chasing views and subscriptions is more addictive than crack! There is a whole new world of promotion opportunities now that technology has caught up, it couldn't be easier or cheaper to record, edit, upload and view videos! I just hope that one day I can get as many views as that one where Alex was dancing naked outside Barry Almonds house!
I see you have gone for a political campaign in your top 100 this year, if you were voted prime minister what would you change and why?
HA! I'm actually feeling the political pressure with this question! It really is quite hard to think of an answer to questions like this that wouldn't offend some people! I would null motorway speed limits between 11pm and 6am! I don't think anyone could argue that isn't a good idea!!!
You’ve had a crazy summer of gigs and festivals which stands out as the best this year and why?
Electrocity in Poland! A giant rave in and around the second biggest monastery in the world. It was going OFF! I couldn’t believe how hard the Polish like to party.
Your Radio One show has been going for several years now and you are now on after Jules from 1 til 3 am, do you think radio one are accepting the harder styles of music more these days?
Yeah it seems to be going from strength to strength. The show already has a massive loyal following, but when I get involved with other shows like daytime, and drop any form of hard music, the txt lines go crazy. This is leading to more and more exposure for the music which is amazing.
You often review new pieces of equipment for DJ magazine, what is your favorite bit of kit that’s been sent out this year?
Just to be a real tease, I can't talk about the coolest thing yet, but you'll see soon enough. As opposed to stuff I can talk about, it has to be Pioneers CDJ 900. It's opened up a whole new world of possibilities for turntablists and as I'm a fan of the Pioneer CD players anyway, I instantly fell in love with this.

This is your 3rd mix CD this year with all of the international traveling you are doing how do you find time to put these mixes together?
It has proven to be a stretch but each CD encompasses a different concept that I had to be involved in so I took shares in Redbull and got a life-times supply so I squeezed in some extra hours when I should have been away with the fairies. Also when I’m traveling I can still put in some work towards the CDs, listening to new CDs and constructing edits and intros on Ableton.
I saw a funny viral video featuring your crazy dance moves recently what inspired you to make this video?
The video was to promote the whole kiddfectious world tour concept and we took inspiration for the Human Traffic film, it was a great day working with the guys at Tidy and the music Factory to make the video, if you haven't seen it yet get on Youtube and type in kiddfectious world tour. The award of the day though has to go to Joe aka Braley Huxtable - true genius!
Your Kiddfectious brand has been out in Ayia Napa this year, how are things going out there?
It has been nothing short of incredible. Really amazing summer for me, probably one of the best of my life. We are running weekly kiddfectious events at the best club on the island - the Castle club. Everyone from the PR team to the club staff and DJs has put in 200% effort and the results have been outstanding. It’s rammed out every week; I perform up to 3 hour sets and get to play a real range of electronic music. I’ve also been playing at beach parties and the Fantasy Boat Cruise as part of the tour over there. So now it’s near the end of the season all I can say is roll on KF Nappa 2011!
You are known for your showmanship behind the deck’s, often standing on speakers. Have you had any injuries or funny experiences you can share where it’s all gone horribly wrong?
Yes I remember jumping from the decks on to a plug; bare footed at Goodgreef Tall Trees a couple of years ago. I moaned like a bitch for days.
I’ve been supporting a lot of your Kiddfectious releases this year, what more do you have planned for the label?
The label has a lot of tasty plans lined up; we are looking at getting a Yoji v Elton John collaboration going and maybe a Lilly Allen remix of the kiddstock theme. But that’s still on the hush hush for now. Check out the forthcoming Alex Kidd Tekfexious EPS we have planned for rest of 2010 - some really fresh sounds going on.
You are responsible for brining some amazing new producers through the ranks such as Kidd Kaos, In2ution & KloneZ , who else should we be keeping an eye on this year?
Projekt Tek have been making some noise lately, their latest KF single has been licensed to a new Showtek/Ministry of Sound compilation so its good times all round.
