» Blox Loggers

Label: HOMmegga
Format: CD-R
Genre: Tech/psy-trance

Okay, so I might not be the worlds leading psy-trance or tech-trance connesieur, so it's from a humble hard dance and techno view I write this review.

I've only just recently started playing from CD and discovered downloading music (legally, I hasten to add), and have been making my way through the vast dance music library that is audiojelly.com and found this in the tech-trance section, although even these reletively untrained ears are dubious as to whether or not it belongs in this category...

Blox Loggers starts with a guitar sample that sounds more like it should be in a drumm and bass track. As the shard sounding bass sneaks in you reallise that this tune is going to be 4/4. The kick and simple percussion are as tight as you can get and you are thrust into a groovy arse shaking psy-trance beat. It's difficult to explain fully how this track pans out as it seems to stop and start like a hardstyle track with elements being introduced and fading away without coming back later in the track. The effects and sounds used again are very simple, but fit alongside eachother perfectly and the track seems to morph into everything at some point, with some parts sounding like funky techno, some trance, some acid techno, with some housey elements in there too.

All in all I have to say I think that this is the most interesting track I have heard so far this year and I can't wait to see how it fares on the dancefloor.
