The master of all masters, Mr Ben Keen, returns with another devastating EP on the all-conquering Riot! Recordings. Following the huge success of his previous smash 'Systematic', BK offers up two more huge solo offerings which, of course, come stamped with that elusive BK seal of quality.
A side 'Pressure' has split opinions on the message boards. Some think he's tried to make a carbon copy of his uber anthem 'Revolution' here, others believe that the similarity of the vocal hook to the Prodigy's dance anthem 'Breathe' brings the record down. To be fair to BK, both opinions have merit. The riff is certainly very reminiscent of Revolution and the vocal, exclaiming "Come feel the pressure/Just try and go I won't let you' does have connotations to Keith Flint's classic hook. But in my opinion, imitating the world's largest hard dance anthem is no bad thing, and who cares if it harks back to The Prodigy? It kicks arse, packs a meaty punch and with Ben's impeccable mastering once again on display, absolutely destroys a big system. Yes, it's a mildly controversial record, but when played at 3am to the biggest dance floors in London, you won't be stroking your chin; you'll just be having it.
B side 'Big Trouble', which featured recently on Riot!s 'Filthy House For Dirty Stopouts' compilation, is a straight-up groover driven by a fat synth-edged bassline. What makes this one stand out is the funky fills littered throughout, which will certainly keep your dancefloors on their toes and will deliver instant dancing satisfaction.
Another top double header from one of the best in the business and, let's be honest, you are going to buy this sooner or later.
