» Hardcore 2007 Helter Skelter vs Raindance

Reviewed by Project Bosh / Submitted 01-03-07 12:39

Label: Ministy Of Sound
Format: CD
Genre: Hardcore

Hardcore has come a long way from it's start many moons ago. Beaten down then risen from the ashes, you'll even find ads on national TV these days! You may then have seen ads for Hardcore 2007 brought to you by some of the biggest parties in the country, Helter Skelter and Raindance.

This CD will go down in my opinion as one of the best Hardcore CD's to have been produced recently. It shows the quality and variety of hardcore that is coming out at the moment and has some of the biggest tunes from a huge list of the biggest producers and labels hitting the scene from the new look on the classic sound on the 'Rave Breaks' CD to the Hard Dance meets Hardcore anthems and final journey through the Sound of Hardcore 2007 CD.

Each mix is packed with energy and just keeps pounding through an endless list of some of the finest upfront hardcore. You will want to keep playing these mixes over and over! Not just that, every time you want to listen it, you will find yourself needing to play all 3 CDs in order and taking the full journey.

CD1 is the 'Rave Breaks' mix where the sound of old skool rave
hits the breaks scene head-on leaving behind it a trail of killer stab and
bass-driven destruction. This mix has certainly opened my eyes to a whole side of the hardcore scene that is rightly growing in popularity and has instantly jumped into my most regularly played CD pile.

Every tune keeps the happy and mashed-up old skool vibe and injects it with a certain element of dark filth. including remixes of some of the biggest anthems from back in the day such as: SL2 - On a Ragga Tip, Liquid - Sweet Harmony and NRG - Never Lost His Hardcore.

I never thought the day would come when the Communards would be played on repeat through my stereo, but with the Slipmatt & Bunter remix of Supermode - Tell Me Why, I couldn't stop playing it for a few days! My housemates were subjected to alarming levels of Jimmy Sommerville!!

CD2 is the 'Hard Dance meets Hardcore' mix. This CD shows how the boundaries between hard dance and hardcore have been broken down in recent years, with hard dance producers taking inspiration from hardcore, and hardcore producers from hard dance. With the quality of tunes on this CD it is clear the line between these two genres has firmly been erased and for the benefit of the ravers and listeners.

The playlist for this CD is jam packed with non-stop hardcore remixes of
hard dance pounders. Crowd favourite Take Control by Fergus Mayhem starts the second leg of the Hardcore 2007 journey that includes some monumental tunes like Sparky and Sytronics remix of JX - Restless, Technikores remix of Silence and In-Effect and Compulsions awesome remix of Beautiful. However with its raw energy and powerful vocals the crowning moment of this CD is the massive Supreme & Sunset Regime remix of Paradise - Wanna Be Free.

Pounding bass lines, raw energy and uplifting vocals sums this CD up
perfectly.

The final CD takes elements of the first CDs and mixes them up with some of the most upfront releases in UK hardcore, with remixes of some of the biggest old and new school anthems, including new remixes of the some of the Slipmatts Classic SMD series and a tune that I must own.. Slipmatts 2007 remix of Your Mine.

This anthem filled frenzy of hands in the air, uplifting hardcore combines
many well known floor-fillers from massive artists, like Sy & Unknown's
Caught Up In Your Love and U R My Phantasy, Gonna Take You High by the Geos Crew and many new releases that are currently shredding up the dancefloors with their uplifting vocals and spine tingling strings!

The shape of things to come.. Things really do look good!!
