Welsh duo Brian M & Mcbunn are back with another EP on one of the biggest labels in Hardstyle, Blutonium, now under the direction of Denmark’s Flarup.
The first track, Ceremony, is Hardstyle with a screeching Square wave synth as an intro lead, a solid if not particularly large bass and some cool glitched vocals. The breakdown is quite dark and contains moody pads, a creepy vocal and Mike Oldfield style Bells before the main synth drops like 10 megaton Nuclear bomb. Loads of energy and power in this one!
On the flip is Vengeance, a track which borrows some vocals from Liam Neeson in his performance of “Taken”. It’s very ShowtTek sounding from the off, with a very similar bass and initial structure, but that’s not a bad thing at all. The bass is very bouncy and lots of screeches and other sounds carry this through to a mini breakdown where an intro riff comes in. Some cool LFO work then nicely takes things down into the breakdown where a wickedly stolen and very clean vocal takes over, accompanied by some operatic bursts to add atmosphere. The main riff takes over from here and when it drops back in the kick and bass from earlier gets replaced with a Jumpstyle kick/bass combo instead, which works a treat. Good work indeed!
