DJ Tom-X vs. Warmduscher

The first set of remixes of the classic "Cocaine" were release back in Feb, featuring excellent efforts from Wavetraxx, Dizmaster, Tom-X and Warmduscher. Needless to say this was an excellent package that I gave 8/10, so I was wondering why the need for another set of remixes quite this soon, and if they could be as good as the last bunch...

The Andrea Montorsi remix[b] typifies the Italians style. Stabs synths, chopped vocals and sidechained sweeps and bass. When you put all of these together there’s only one thing you’re ever going to get, and that’s the latest Andrea Montorsi track. Needless to say, he comes up with the good again. A fearsome bass, excellent use of the vocal as an instrument and a sensational breakdown packed with energy make this the definitive remix of the classic for 2010.

The [b]Bush mix
is one of the originally release mixes which has been re-mastered for 2010. It doesn’t sound as dated as it probably should, but the raw feel it has with regards to the percussion and sounds does let it down a touch. A throbbing Hardstyle bass is the focal point of this track and the vocal gets a fair airing too, while the breakdown is minimal to say the least, with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. But then again, I doubt it would work as well as it does if it wasn’t.

Finally we have the DJ Brush mix. This starts off quite quiet and unassuming, but it’s not long before a large kick drum joins the shuffling percussion. Which the bass drops it leaves you in no doubt that this is a serious slab of Hardstyle, full of distorted kicks and a nasty breakdown, complete with a slightly changed riff to suit that typical Hardstyle sound. Definitely the choice for the harder floors.
