Louk

» Distorted Reality

Label: Joyride
Format: Digital
Genre: Hard Trance/Techno

On form South Coast DJ/Producer Louk is back with another sterling effort with Distorted Reality, out soon on Joyride. The original mix has a fairly simple intro, but add the reverse bass, Louk’s trademark shuffy, Techno style percussion and a dollop of acid and you end up with a simple yet effective track. The breakdown is pretty much simplicity itself with the main riff filtering up, but it still manages to pack a hefty punch.

The DJ Medowz remix adds a touch more percussion, a bit more aggression with the sounds and overall mix and a hefty, sidechained bass that pretty much takes the cake as far as awesome bass lines go. A short breakdown introduces the acid which for me should be more prominent, but that’s a minor fault. The breakdown is again a pretty simple affair, only this time with an additional bass drone and break beat section in there for good effect. My personal pick of the bunch.

The final remix comes from Jim Justice and is more of a Techno track. It adds layers of sounds minus a bass for nearly 2 minutes before it drops into a mini breakdown when it finally starts to get a bit interesting. The breakdown is again similar to the others but it lacks any kind of energy in the drop, as the quite tame main synth doesn’t even seem to be at full strength. Apart from some cool FX and low pass filter sweeps, this is a bit of a let down to be honest.
